Brisa partnered with Hope the Mission and the City of Los Angeles to purchase and adaptively reuse a 100-bed motel into an interim shelter. We took advantage of the large site to add a standalone community wellness center with a separate grant from the Annenberg Foundation. The project transforms one of the biggest and most blighted sites in this part of the San Fernando Valley into a safe and verdant place for transitional residents to receive supportive services and case management with the goal of putting residents on a path to stability. To support long-term operational efficiency, sustainability upgrades will additionally reduce the building’s utility footprint to near zero.
